STUDIO POLICY

MUSIC & MATERIALS

Students must have an instrument at home for practice. Guidance in instrument selection is included in tuition.

Each student is responsible for purchasing or printing required music and materials for lessons. Students will be expected to have assigned materials within 2 weeks.

TUITION AND SCHEDULE

Invoices will be sent on the 1st of each month. If autopay is enabled, tuition will be drawn with the method on file in My Music Staff. All payments are non-refundable. The studio provides a guaranteed 44 lessons in a year. The weeks where lessons are not held (due to holidays, personal performance opportunities, or illness) will be communicated in advance. Studio closure weeks will not receive a make-up lesson credit.

*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.

ENROLLMENT END DATE

To end enrollment for the coming month, notice must be received via email by the 15th of the current month.

CANCELLATION POLICY

When notice of a missed lesson is provided 24 hours prior, the studio may provide up to 2 make-up credits each term (September-December, January-May) subject to availability. Make-up credits expire after 30 days. A make-up credit cannot be assigned to a make-up lesson, unless the original lesson was cancelled by the teacher.

Make-up credits may be assigned for illness related cancellations with less than 24 hours notice. Please do not come to an in-person lesson if you are sick. If a student arrives to a lesson sick, they may be sent home or asked to wear a mask.

Lessons canceled by the teacher will be given as much notice as possible. Teacher cancellations outside of the guaranteed 44 annual lessons will be rescheduled within 30 days. 2 bonus lessons are built into our schedule, and may be cancelled due to teacher illness or schedule conflict. These lessons are not included in tuition, and are free if not cancelled.

Tuition is based on the number of lessons the studio schedules and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month. *Enrollment cannot be guaranteed for the fall term without summer enrollment.

Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child, please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

PUNCTUALITY

Please note that if a student arrives late to a lesson, extra time will not be given. Arriving 5-10 minutes early to unpack and tune is encouraged. If a parent is late to pick up a student from lessons, a late pickup fee of $2 per minute past 5 minutes after the end of the lesson may be applied.

VIRTUAL LESSONS

In the case of mild teacher or student illness, severe weather, or other conflicts, lessons may be held online virtually. When virtual lessons are offered, in-person make-up lessons will not be offered. If the student opts out of the virtual lesson that lesson and tuition will be forfeited.

REFERRALS

If a student refers a friend who registers for lessons, the student will receive one free lesson.

VIDEO RECORDING

For the safety of everyone in the studio, there is a security camera recording lessons. This camera records to local storage and is not wifi-enabled. The camera’s footage is reviewed only when necessary.

By enrolling and paying tuition for myself or my child in Moss DeWitt’s studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the studio policies for the current calendar year.
